Electric Company Solar Hybrid Application

  1. Call your Electric company and ask about the application procedure.

  2. Go to the ECE Solar Application Website. In our case: https://www.novapowerportal.com/WebMap

  3. Select your state

  4. Select your Electric Utility

  5. Check the links for references and recommendation. The TSM (Technical Specification Manual) has some very helpful examples.

  6. Fill out the Simplified Interconnection Application and Energy Storage Application

  7. Gather the documents required. In my case I needed a one line electrical drawing, an aerial photo showing locations of hardware and the AIMs Hybrid 9.6k inverter specs,

  8. Submit your application and wait for a response.

Building Permit Application Process Isanti County MN

Start by going to your county or city website and download the building permit application. If you are struggling to find the paperwork on the website you should be able to stop by and pick up an application as well.

County Building Permit Application: It is necessary to send a building application to the county when installing a solar system. City Building Permit: If you are in city limits you will need to submit a building permit application to your city as well. This isn’t a concern in my case.

Plat Map:

  1. Figure out your County name.

  2. Google Search for your County GIS. In my case I search for Isanti County GIS. This is your Geographical Information System and will include your property maps and aerial photos. https://www.co.isanti.mn.us/175/Geographic-Information-Systems-GIS

  3. Take a screen shot and mark it with your Solar Location and the setbacks from the edges of the plat and the distances to the other structures.

Electric Permit Application

  1. Open the Electrical Permit Application Page

  2. Setup and account

  3. Create an Electrical permit.

  4. Once you have the permit start work.

  5. Once you finish the project come back to this page, lookup the electrical inspector for your location and schedule an electrical inspection.

  6. If the electrical inspector approves it he will sign off on the project. If not you will need to address his concerns and have another inspection.
